Future Colossal’s eye-catching, engaging, interactive storefront installation promoting the Showtime series Penny Dreadful was a multi-faceted creative technology project commissioned by marketing firm Van Wagner.
The twin experiences in New York City and Hollywood employed a bevy of creative technologies to blur the line between reality and fantasy. This included a Live Vinyl video mirror that tracked pedestrians using LiDAR and presented them with a shadowy doppelgänger that mimicked their movements; a shareable augmented GIF photo booth powered by a Kinect camera and a custom through-glass EMF button; a collection of interactive peephole kinetoscopes; moving portraits of the show’s characters whose gaze followed passers by; and cinematographic displays with sneak peeks of the show.
